Padma Bhushan Saichiro Misumi: Architect of India-Japan Relations

Saichiro Misumi is the 100-year-old Japanese National, who was a close associate of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. Misumi was instrumental in inviting the visit of Subhash Chandra Bose to Japan in 1943 and organising his famous meeting in Hibiya Park in Tokyo in Japan.

After the end of the World War II, Misumi became active in promoting high-level political and cultural delegations between India and Japan to deepen the ties. He was instrumental in giving a boost to the economic relations. In recognition to his yeomen services, the Indian Government conferred to him , the high civilian honour of Padma Bhushan.
